BT to put merged wholesale arm’s brief out for pitch

BT Wholesale Markets, the sales, marketing and after-sales service arm of BT Wholesale, is consolidating its two PR accounts into a single brief and is putting the new business up for pitch.

Band & Brown Communications has run the BT Wholesale Markets campaigns account since November 2001 (PRWeek, 23 November 2001); Hill & Knowlton has dealt with the division’s broadband PR for the past three years. Both are pitching for the enlarged account, along with two other agencies.

The new account will combine Band & Brown’s work, which centres on B2B media relations for all non-broadband products, with that of Hill & Knowlton, which deals with broadband PR, as well as crisis and product management.

A BT Wholesale Markets spokeswoman said the pitch is to take place later this month.

The changes to the brief do not affect the corporate media relations account for BT Wholesale Markets, held by Pirate PR. Pirate was appointed by BT Wholesale Markets last month; it has managed corporate media relations for BT’s research arm BT Exact for the past two years.

BT Wholesale is the B2B arm of BT, selling telecoms and internet products to other telecoms players and ISPs.
