DIARY: 'Unemployed actors' get their message across

The ongoing PR battle among the many directory enquiries services was taken to a fresh level last week with The Number's '118-118' long-distance runners spending Thursday evening boosting brand awareness on BBC sports quiz show They Think It's All Over.

The 118 pair had to endure the groping that is the show's 'Feel the Sportsman' round but, much to the chagrin of The Number's consumer PR agency, Brazil, the BBC forced the runners to wear XXX in place of the figures.

Brazil staffers were assuaged, however, when presenter Nick Hancock corrected panellist Rory McGrath's guess that they were 'those unemployed actors who found a job with directory enquiries' by stating the 118 slogan.

The duo also appeared on Channel 4's The Salon, on which 'celebrities' are polished and coiffured by hairdressers. Wherever next?
