Tourism board in Nepal to boost PR with media centre

Kathmandu: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), which last month announced the naming of a new executive committee, has stepped up its PR operations with the launch of a dedicated media centre.

The NTB Media Centre will be headed by Harisharan Lamichane, a British-educated former journalist and well-known Nepalese media and PR professional who is being asked to ‘maintain relations with national and international media’, in a bid to ‘recover lost markets and re-establish Nepal’s position in international tourism’.

Speaking to PRWeek, Lamichane said the media centre ‘is a fresh new venture to enhance Nepal’s promotion through regular interaction with the international media’.

Its responsibilities will include projecting the country’s image, keeping track of publications covering Nepal and advising the tourist board.
