Internal comms sector launches an industry group

The internal communications industry’s four main professional bodies have joined forces to launch an organisation aimed at boosting professional standards and raising the industry’s profile.

Inter-Comm is the result of collaboration between the Internal Communication Alliance (ICA), part of the IPR; the British Association of Communicators in Business; the International Association of Business Communicators; and the Internal Communications Association, part of the Work Foundation.

Inter-Comm’s first project is the unveiling of its website, which incorporates educational tools to help individuals and organisations identify and fill gaps in skills and knowledge.

Ernst & Young senior internal communications specialist and ICA committee member Lee Smith said: ‘The profession is maturing and we decided to pool our resources.’
