Media boss Rand quits Consumers' Association post

Consumers' Association head of media Marcus Rand is to leave next month to become chief executive of the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA).

Rand, who has been with the consumer lobby group for four years, joins the trade association for the wind power industry on 14 April.

A Consumers' Association spokesman confirmed that senior PRO Anna Butterworth will be taking over as acting head of media while a full-time replacement is sought.

Butterworth has for the past two years been coordinating media relations for the association's Which? brand.

At the BWEA Rand will replace Nick Goodall, whose main responsibilities have included external relations and membership services. Media relations are handled by head of comms Alison Hill.

The BWEA, which this week staged its UK Offshore Wind 2003 conference in London, was formed more than 20 years ago as a professional association for researchers into wind energy. It is now the UK's largest renewable energy trade body, with around 230 corporate members.
