DIARY: Somebody out there still loves the young Versace

PR agencies have given a mixed response to a London Evening Standard report last week that claimed Gianni Versace's niece, who has reportedly failed to get onto the prestigious fashion design course at Central St Martins, was now 'considering a career in fashion PR'.

Most of the major fashion PR boutiques have elected to remain wisely silent on whether they would consider hiring the 19-year-old Francesca.

Even Versace's own account team at Aurelia PR refused to comment.

But there's hope for young Francesca yet. Sam Fearn, managing partner at fashion agency Fearnhurst PR - which works for clients including Kenneth Cole - says: 'We'd be keen to hire her. PR is a skill of communication and being able to visualise a story - that doesn't mean you need to be able to design a collection'. Watch this space for news of Francesca's next move.
