PUBLIC SECT0R: RII hires agency to build links with the world of business

Regional Infrastructure for Innovation (RII) - a consortium of ten universities and colleges in the east of England - has appointed Communications Management for PR support in its £4.5m plan to build links between business and academia.

Communications Management's higher education practice will concentrate on targeting the business community in east England - particularly mid-size companies, business advisers and academics who already work with business.

RII members include Cambridge University, the universities of Cranfield, East Anglia, Essex, Hertfordshire and Luton, the Open University, Anglia Polytechnic University, Writtle College and Norwich School of Art and Design.

The four-strong team led by director of the higher education practice Justin Shaw, will report to the RII PR co-ordination team at Cambridge University.

The Government's White Paper, The Future of Higher Education, recommends that universities improve their interaction with business.
