INTERNATIONAL: H&K appointed to assist Vietnamese planning ministry

HANOI: Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment has picked Hill & Knowlton to handle a strategic effort to attract US-led foreign direct investment, in the wake of the 2001 bilateral trade agreement with the US and as the country ramps up its bid for World Trade Organisation entry.

H&K Washington DC public affairs practice senior adviser Jeff Trammell will head the year-long retainer business, with the New York office handling media-related activities on the account, according to H&K chief operating officer, Asia-Pacific, Vivian Lines, who will co-ordinate the account in Asia.

Meanwhile Cohn & Wolfe chairman and former CEO Stephen Aiello is leaving to take on the role of senior counsellor for public affairs at H&K in the US. Aiello, who was replaced as CEO by Donna Imperato last year, quits the chairman post after just nine months.
