INTERNATIONAL: Irish Jesuits plan PR role as part of restructure move

DUBLIN: The Irish Jesuits are creating a new PR post to manage its communication centre in Dublin as part of a divisional overhaul.

The order - one of the largest in the Catholic Church - is on the hunt for a comms manager for the Dublin province, responsible for developing and implementing a strategic PR plan, media training and overseeing the Jesuit website and Sacred Space websites.

Irish Jesuits director of comms Paddy Carberry - to whom the comms manager will report - said the creation of the role follows a decision to restructure PR: 'Our intention is to re-organise the structure to create a more unified division,' said Carberry, who will now head a merged department consisting of publications and websites, studies (for example journals) and the communication centre.

The comms manager will run the centre and manage a small press team, which the province is hoping to recruit over the next few months.
