MEDIA: Sugar names Irvin as full-time editor after interim role

Britain's top-selling girls' magazine, Sugar, has confirmed Claire Irvin as its new editor.

Irvin has spent the past 11 months editing the Hachette Filipacchi UK monthly on an interim basis alongside editorial director Lysanne Currie.

Irvin said the title's readers enjoyed 'cutting-edge real-life stories', pop band interviews and 'an intelligent voice' from a magazine that acts as their 'best friend'.

She said PROs should contact herself and beauty editor Leanne Warwick, fashion and style director Jane Gill, features editor Richard Dunnett and assistant editor Charlotte Blackburn.

The former editor of Sugar was Jennifer Cawthron, who left at the end of 2001 to edit Emap Performance's Sneak magazine.

Hachette last week appointed Helen Lamont as editor of monthly teen title tvhits!. Lamont has been acting editor since November, when tvhits! merged with the monthly cd:uk magazine.
