BPC, which has handled consumer and ad hoc public affairs work for MFI for the past 11 months, has been appointed to handle a broader PR brief for the group. It is understood fees for the augmented brief are in excess of £500,000.
The bulk of the additional work is regional PR advice surrounding the planned relaunch of more than 70 MFI stores during 2003.
So far 68 of MFI's 217 stores have been relaunched, with PR for these handled by Leedex Euro RSCG, which ceased to work for MFI at the end of last year after a relationship dating back almost ten years.
BPC chairman Kevin Murray said the agency had now been handed a more 'structured' public affairs brief than before, in addition to the remit formerly handled by Leedex.
Murray leads the account team, alongside Bell Pottinger Public Relations chairman Tricia Moon.
Brunswick will continue to handle MFI's financial PR.
