MEDIA: Music launch for 'disenfranchised' fans

Future Publishing is to launch new music monthly Bang targeting a 'disenfranchised' market of young rock and roll fans.

The magazine aims to tap into the growing market of fans for bands such as The White Stripes, The Strokes and The Darkness and aims to help readers 'experience the ugly thrill of great new music up close'.

Future claims the sector now accounts for 28 per cent of all album sales and is forecast to grow by 11 per cent over the next five years.

The target audience is described as the 'notoriously elusive' music obsessed 16 to 24-year-old males.

Future says it is uniquely positioned to launch the magazine with a stable that includes Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and the Official Playstation 2 Magazine.

The magazine was devised and will be jointly edited by Crispin Parry and Danny Ford. The two created independent magazine Circuit and worked on album covers, photo archives as well as reviews and design for the music industry.
