INTERNATIONAL: Ketchum France merges with DDB to raise capability

PARIS: Omnicom is merging Ketchum France with the PR operations of sister ad brand DDB as part of a plan to offer clients a full marketing services capability.

The merger will see 30-strong Ketchum France relocate to DDB's Paris offices by early March, creating a merged operation of 40 staff.

Ketchum France president Jean-Martial Ribes will head the PR team, with DDB PR chief operating officer Stephane Amis reporting into Ribes.

Ketchum senior partner (international) Jerry Olszewski confirmed there have been no job losses as a result of the merger and that the move was not designed to cut costs.

'In France, traditional PR agencies have been pigeon-holed as media relations firms and we have had a hard time breaking out of it - advertising drives the big opportunities in that market and we can see many synergies with DDB to expand our offering,' he said.
