Jarman to head Cambridgeshire Constabulary comms

Cambridgeshire Constabulary – the force dealing with the Soham tragedy - has appointed Hywel Jarman as its first permanent communications head for a year.

Jarman joins the force as head of corporate information at the end of March from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Strategic Health Authority, where he is head of communications and public involvement.

One of his key tasks at Cambridgeshire will be to oversee the force's ongoing communications and media relations regarding the tragic deaths of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

He added that he wanted to look back at how the 'communications process' relating to the case has been handled so far to, 'see what worked well and what worked less well'.

He declined to comment further as to what if any other aspects of the force's communications function would be reviewed.

The last permanent comms head at the force was John Deal who left last February.
