INTERNATIONAL: Reshuffle brings Buckley to Fianna Fail's press office

DUBLIN: Ireland's main political party Fianna Fail has appointed Olivia Buckley to lead its press office in the wake of a departmental reshuffle.

Buckley joins mid-January as head of press and research from food giant Kerry Group, where she was senior comms executive for over two years.

At Fianna Fail, Buckley heads a press team of three - all of whom were appointed at the end of last year following the general election on 17 May, in which Prime Minister Bertie Ahern was re-elected for a second five-year term.

The reshuffle saw Fianna Fail's previous PROs appointed as press chiefs for individual ministers, replaced last September by Jerry O'Connor, Suzanne Coogan and Audrey Eager.

Buckley succeeds press office boss Tom Reddy, appointed to handle comms for the Minister for Social and Family Affairs Mary Coughlan.
