Diesel shortlists three shops for U-Music festival

Fashion firm Diesel is staging a consumer PR pitch for its music festival.

Diesel has culled an initial shortlist of nine agencies down to a final three for a remit to promote the third Diesel U-Music Awards to take place in May next year.

One of the agencies in the running for the brief is Coalition PR, which handled PR for the most recent festival, held in May.

The awards, which aim to give a platform to unsigned acts, are the culmination of a six-month talent search.

Three of the acts - DJ Yoda, Souvenir and Magic Star - that have performed at the festival have since signed record deals.

In 2001 the inaugural awards were held at the Shepherd's Bush Empire.

This year's awards were held at London's Fabric club. The venue for 2003 has yet to be decided.

PR for the festival in its first year - held in April 2001 - was handled by freelance Claire Debrao.

Next year's festival - which will be held in May - will also see events in the US, Italy, Switzerland, Japan and the BeNeLux countries.

The appointed agency will report to Diesel marketing and comms manager Daniel Barton.
