Orange hands MacLaurin all literary work

Mobile phone giant Orange has extended MacLaurin's remit to its entire literary sponsorship portfolio.

MacLaurin, the founding subsidiary of hatch-group, has handled PR for the Orange Prize for Fiction since its inception in 1996.

Last week MacLaurin was appointed to handle the Orange Word 2002 International Writers Season, which begins on 3 October at London's Gielgud Theatre.

This event - also known as the London Literature Festival - runs at three different theatres until December and then recommences from January until March.

Midas PR handled the account last year for Orange, which is in its second year of sponsorship of the event.

MacLaurin will work on new education initiative Orange Index Debates, which will take place at six universities next spring. It will also handle PR for the Orange Translation Prize and children's reading scheme Chatterbooks.

A six-strong MacLaurin account team, headed by director Harriet Hastings, reports to Orange group director of corporate affairs Denise Lewis, UK campaigns manager Nicola Green and sponsorship manager Gina Salter.
