MEDIA: Cosmo launches YOUniverse to win back market share

Women's glossy monthly Cosmopolitan is to launch a new editorial section - Cosmo's YOUniverse - as it bids to woo readers from rival Glamour.

YOUniverse - which it claims will 'tackle all the issues that modern women face today' - will be ten pages long each month.

The new section appears for the first time in the October issue, which hits the news-stands next week.

The section will contain two two-page health features each month - one will examine the 'physical side to health' and one will tackle 'emotional health issues'. In addition, there will be one page each devoted to: fitness, food, money, careers, the home, 'happiness' and gynecological problems.

YOUniverse is overseen by features editor Helen Daly, but each topic is handled by various editors.

In the latest ABCs, published last month, Glamour ousted Cosmo from top slot in the women's monthly glossy sector, with 520,193 readers compared to Cosmo's 470,180.
