INTERNATIONAL: BBC Prime plans PR campaign in eastern Europe

PRAGUE: BBC Worldwide's international entertainment channel BBC Prime is planning a PR campaign across Poland and the Czech Republic as it prepares to launch in local language subtitles.

The channel, which launched in 1995 as a commercial venture available outside the UK, drafted in Feedback/Hill & Knowlton for supporting PR work.

Feedback will work on a media relations brief and remit to build relationships with cable operators in Poland and the Czech Republic ahead of the subtitle launch, which will see the channel available in local language for the first time in those markets.

BBC Prime is already available in English in Poland and the Czech Republic, but it is hoped the introduction of subtitles will boost subscribers.

BBC Prime head of press and PR (channels) Dale Langley said: 'The brief centres around media relations, targeting the trade press, but also the consumer media to raise awareness of the channel.'
