INTERNATIONAL: Ogilvy acquires 70 per cent stake in Taiwan's Era PR

TAIPEI: Ogilvy PR Worldwide has purchased a 70 per cent stake in tech-focused Taiwanese PR firm Era Public Relations.

The acquisition marks the latest in a series of recent moves by Ogilvy to expand in Asia, including the takeover last month of Chinese PR giant H-Line.

Era was founded in 1992 and has counted Xilinx, Oracle, and Dell Computers among its clients.

Ogilvy and Era have worked together for about three years, and are currently the two largest PR firms in the market.

'I have never seen such an opportunity for two firms that are so much bigger than the rest of the market to join forces,' said Ogilvy Asia Pacific president Matthew Anderson.

He added that most firms in Taiwan have fewer than 20 employees, while the Ogilvy/Era deal will create an agency employing more than 100.
