Mike Barker, who joined the trust last week as communications manager, said he wanted to expand the trust's intranet service as part of a review of the entire internal comms function.
He said: 'We have 1,100 staff across 35 sites so making sure internal communications is right has to be a priority.'
Barker will also look at external communications and the possibility of a campaign to reduce inappropriate use of the 999 service.
Barker leads a two-strong team and reports to director for clinical care Mike Jackson.
He joins the trust from agency Harrison Cowley, where his clients included Nuffield Hospitals and the Health and Safety Executive.
He replaces Sarah Jones, who left earlier this year to become comms manager at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust.
