INTERNATIONAL: F-H Chicago boss prepares to target healthcare sector

CHICAGO: The newly appointed head of Fleishman-Hillard in Chicago is to target the healthcare sector in an 'aggressive' push for new business.

Cynthia Hardie was promoted to F-H Chicago general manager last week. She had been deputy general manager since September 2001 and had been running the 50-strong office on an interim basis since the departure of former general manager Bob McEwen.

McEwen quit F-H in April to become Burson-Martseller Mid-West president and CEO.

'Our position in Chicago's PR market doesn't reflect what we think is our rightful place,' said Hardie.

She added a drive for new business was imminent and this would mean hiring staff. Current healthcare clients include Abbott Laboratories and CorSolutions.

Hardie reports to F-H's St Louis-based Mid-West president Dave Senay.
