Jeremy, who quit Firefly last week, reports to BBC Ventures CEO Roger Flynn and will work closely with BBC comms director Sally Osman.
BBC Ventures is the Corporation's commercial arm and has an evolving role as a holding company for four BBC units - Broadcast, Technology, Resources and Kingswood Warren Ventures.
Under rules being developed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, these divisions - which until now have operated as commercial entities but with the BBC as their sole client - will be able to seek non-BBC work.
In her new post she will have a brief to create a comms unit - previously the four arms handled PR through their sales and marketing teams.
She will also have a budget to hire external support: 'There will be a remit to look at agency help in both the UK and the US,' she said.
