Group head of global product communications Johannes Reifenrath, who was appointed to the role at the end of last year, has confirmed that he will be restructuring his 25-strong department as part of an in-house comms revamp.
Part of the team reshuffle sees the appointment this week of Norbert Giesen, former head of corporate communications at ZF Sachs and Opel head of communications Chris Horn.
Giesen, who was also formerly head of corporate communications at Opel and was succeeded by Horn in that role, has been recruited to manage DaimlerChrysler's editorial and issues management group.
Horn is to take over communications for international activities as well as events and motor shows.
Reifenrath remained tight-lipped as to what other changes would come as a result of the overhaul.
DaimlerChrysler named its general manager of corporate communications for the Mercedes-Benz brand in the US two months ago, promoting Scott Keog to the role (PRWeek, 19 April).
He replaced Jeff Fisher, who has now moved on to become general manager of corporate communications for DaimlerChrysler sister firm Freightliner.
