INTERNATIONAL: CNBC Asia-Pacific search for PR shop for media relations

HONG KONG: CNBC Asia-Pacific is looking for a PR consultancy to oversee media relations following a restructure sparked by the departure of marcoms chief Miguel Bernas.

Mark Froude now oversees marketing in addition to being CNBC's Asia-Pacific vice-president, international sales.

'It is about integrating the sales and marketing units more effectively,' Froude said.

CNBC Asia-Pacific senior marketing manager Cheryl Wang has now become the main press contact.

Wang declined to name the PR firms in the running but she has given Hill & Knowlton in Hong Kong a project to promote CNBC's Asia-Pacific Leader Awards, being held in October.

CNBC Asia-Pacific wants to appoint an external PR firm to help its regional marketing communications department in Singapore, which no longer maintains its PR function.

The regional pay-TV channel did not replace Mai Tatoy, CNBC Asia communications manager, who left in October 2001 to be marketing communications manager at ESPN Star Sports.
