Global PR manager for Chivas Brothers

Alcoholic drinks manufacturer Pernod Ricard has apointed an international public relations manager to spearhead PR for its Scotch whisky buisness, Chivas Brothers (CB).

Jim Long takes up the newly created post and has been handed a brief to build the profile of the company. He reports to CB communications director Vanessa Wright.

Long is tasked with developing and managing the firm's international PR and media relations strategy for key brands within the CB portfolio, which includes responsibility for Campbell Distillers.

'I will work closely with our global partners in building the brands using a variety of strategies,' said Long, who took up the post at the start of the month.

He boasts a lengthy track record of drinks industry PR and joins CB from Lexis Public Relations where he worked for four-and-a-half years on a variety of drinks and spirit accounts.

He began his career at brewer Berry Brothers & Rudd before joining Lexis as a graduate trainee.

CB is responsible for the production, export and marketing of a portfolio of blended and malt whiskies including Chivas Regal 12 and Chivas Regal 18, 100 Pipers, Something Special and Chivas Revolve.

The company is one of three created following Pernod Ricard's purchase of Seagram's wine and spirit business a year ago. The others are Pernod Ricard UK and Pernod Ricard World Trade, a duty-free and travel retail concern.

Long will divide his time between CB's London office and its Scottish manufacturing hub in Speyside.
