French leaders confirm communications advisers

Paris - Following his landslide victory over extremist candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen, President Jacques Chirac has confirmed his communications advisers in their PR posts at the Elysee Palace.

Jerome Monod remains the President's principal strategist, with his daughter Claude Chirac maintaining her position as principal communications adviser.

She will continue to be assisted by Agathe Sanson, head of media relations.

Meanwhile, the newly-appointed Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, himself a longtime PRO, has named Dominique Ambiel, the film producer and former president of Expand Image, as the new head of the PM's media relations arm, the Service d'Information du Gouvernement (SIG).

Ambiel, a longtime friend of Raffrin, is expected to emphasise the importance of television in communications.
