NEW YORK: PR Council is putting together a board for the rising leaders in the communications industry, called PRC Next.
The group, comprised of 12 members with seven to 15 years of industry experience, will function as a shadow board to the PR Council’s board of directors. It will develop and lead its own industry initiatives and join some directors’ meetings to share their perspectives.
"The PR Council board is all CEOs who know and tackle high-level topics at board meetings," said Sara Ghazaii, VP and director of communications at PR Council. "We were thinking about what the industry will look like five, 10, or 20 years down the line. We wanted to find those people who would be leading agencies at that time."
PR Council is aiming to diversify members of PRC Next by bringing in leaders from around the country, different types of agencies, and from its three tiers of agency membership, which are based on revenue.
PRC Next members will be announced in December, and the board will hold its first meeting in January. The Council will accept applications through November 15.
"We wanted to provide a platform for the next generation of leaders and want diverse perspectives to look at the industry’s challenges and opportunities," Ghazaii said. "We want them to share their vision on where they see the communications industry going and on ways they hope to contribute to the industry’s evolution."
The PR Council board of directors includes chief executives from 14 agencies, including Burson-Marsteller, Weber Shandwick, Golin, Ogilvy, DeVries Global, and Citizen Relations. The trade association has members from more than 100 U.S. agencies.
