It’s understood the account is worth around £60,000 a year, covering press office functions and four pieces of campaign work for the UK's national weather service.

3 Monkeys was hired to handle the account in 2015, with the agency working alongside the Met Office press team in Exeter.

It initially won a two-year account, which was later extended by another year. However, the agency, now known as 3 Monkeys Zeno, is unable to pitch for the new account because the Met Office is restricted to the 27 consultancies on the government’s new Campaign Solutions roster.

PRWeek contacted the Met Office but received no response at the time of publication.

Agencies on the Campaign Solutions roster have also recently been asked to submit proposal for the Public Health England account held by Freuds.
