Poundland swaps Fleishman with One Green Bean for expanded PR brief

Budget retailer Poundland has appointed One Green Bean to an expanded six-figure brief that includes consumer PR for its sister brand PEP&CO.

FleishmanHillard Fishburn, which had won the brief in March last year from longstanding agency Bottle, was invited to repitch for the business. Bottle was also invited to pitch, but declined.

One Green Bean's remit for Poundland includes press office duties, campaign implementation, social media activity and news hijacking, while for value fashion brand PEP&CO it is tasked with raising awareness.

PEP&CO concessions are incorporated into roughly 10 per cent of the 850 Poundland stores throughout the UK. Both companies are owned by parent organisation Steinhoff, which also owns Bensons for Beds and furniture chain Harveys.

One Green Bean MD Matt Buchanan said: "Poundland is famous nationwide for introducing single-price retailing to the high street. The marketing and communications teams have a huge appetite to continue to agitate and upset the status quo in the retail sector. It's a perfect brief for us; we can't wait to get started."

One Green Bean, which last year merged into Havas PR but retained its identity, has won a number of clients recently, including Innis & Gunn, Campo Viejo and Nokia 3310 owner HMD Global.
