New CEO at HCA
Mike Dixon has been appointed chief executive of the Healthcare Communications Association. He was previously executive director of Vivactis Global Health, a partnership between Vivactis and The Mission Marketing Group, the latter having acquired Dixon's echogroup agency in 2015. He succeeds Anneliese Cameron, who had held the role for two and a half years. Formed in 2001, the HCA has 74 member companies representing the pharma industry itself and comms consultancies.
Northern Powerhouse hires
Daniel Cochlin has joined the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, the economic development body chaired by chancellor-turned-newspaper editor George Osborne, as head of external affairs. A former journalist for the Mail on Sunday and The Journal, Cochlin previously spent seven years at The University of Manchester. He is tasked with promoting the NPP's research output to ensure its evidence and thinking informs policy proposals, working alongside new chief economist Andrew McPhillips and events manager Lucy Smith, who previously worked on Labour politician Steve Rotheram’s successful mayoral campaign in Liverpool.
Liberty wins Netsnapper
Tech specialist Liberty Communications has been appointed as agency of record for Netsnapper. It will work to promote the company to systems integrators, channel partners and tech decision makers as a provider of a secure and open approach to the industrial internet of things. It will also support is new CEO and leadership team.
New hires at EM
Emerging markets-focused financial comms firm EM has made two hires. Maria Levitov joins in London from a role as an emerging markets reporter at Bloomberg, while in Moscow, Dmitry Zhadan has joined from an investor relations role at gold producer Polyus. The agency also recently opened in Beijing.
Fehsenfeld launches social agency
Renee Fehsenfeld, former social media director at Havas Media and iProspect, has today launched Mind Your Social, which will offer social media consultancy services to SMEs. It is based in Manchester.
PR Agency One treads the boards
Manchester's PR Agency One ha been appointed by RADA in Business, the commercial subsidiary of RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), to raise awareness of its communication skills training for business leaders and teams.
