MD Lynne Goddard and associate director Rhianon Williams have acquired the business outright, through a combination of personal funds and bank financing. Williams now takes the role of director.
The six-person operation works for food and drink, wellbeing, consumer tech and lifestyle brands. Its two biggest clients are the consumer products giants Mars and 3M.
CCgroup had UK revenues of £3.1m in 2016, up nearly a third on the year before, placing it and 91st in the PRWeek UK Top 150 - with £2.7m of that coming from its main b2b tech PR operation. This indicates Escapade's revenues for 2016 were a little under £400,000.
Escapade was created in 2006 as a spin-off from what was then Companycare Communications.
While Escapade and its parent have shared some clients in the past, the CCgroup operation has now moved to London and the agencies have been operating independently for some time.
Goddard, who has worked at CCgroup for 30 years, said: "Escapade remains firmly ensconced in the Thames Valley, working with a wide range of consumer brands and services. This diversification in terms of focus and location made a buyout the perfect way forward for all concerned."
Williams is in her second stint at Escape, having rejoined in November 2014.
