Smithfield wins pension client
Smithfield Consultants, the specialist financial agency acquired by Edelman UK in 2015, has been appointed by workplace pension scheme The People's Pension as its retained public relations agency. Other Smithfields clients include JLT Employee Benefits, Lincoln Pensions, the Pensions Management Institute, and Comparethemarket.com.
Headland briefed by eToro
Independent agency Headland has been hired by eToro, the online trading and investment platform, following a competitive pitch process. Headland has been appointed to run eToro’s pan-European corporate communications, focusing on new customer acquisition. Founded in 2007, eToro is a global fintech leader with six million users across 140 countries. In 2015, eToro took on Hill+Knowlton for work across the UK, Germany and Spain.
MI in JV with design firm
Toys and licensing specialist MI PR Global has formed a joint venture company with design agency Watermelon Creative. The two firms have created Flip International Group, which will offer a creative design and comms service for new and existing brands. MI PR directors Jonathan Rose and Ruth Leonard are joined by Watermelon's Sarah Swindell on the Flip board. It follows MI PR's acquisition of Fizz Communications early this month, creating a 13-strong agency.
Pegasus 'performing well' post-acquisition
Healthcare agency Pegasus has "performed well" since its acquisition by FTSE-listed outsourcer UDG. Fast-growing Pegasus was acquired for up to £16.8m in May 2016. This is according to UDG's interim results for the six months to March 2017, which show gross revenue across the company was £379.9m, up 12 per cent on the year before, with the communications and advisory segment of the business contributing £94m of that. Pegasus ranked 32nd in the PRWeek UK Top 150 for 2017, with revenue of £9.6m for the previous 12 months.
White Tiger's double win
White Tiger PR has won two new clients; Flash Pack and SJ Villas. The former is a specialist in solo and group travel for 30-somethings. SJ Villas offers travellers holiday residences across the world and was recently subject to an MBO by director Judy Menier.
Phipps toasts M&S win
Specialist food-and-drink agency Phipps has been appointed by retailer M&S as the retained PR agency, covering its beers, wines and spirits division. Phipps will lead a campaign to drive awareness and recognition for M&S’s innovative drinks offering. Phipps associate director Lottie West will lead the account, reporting to M&S PR manager Hazel MacRae.
Flint recruited for Londinium
The City of London Corporation has chosen Flint to lead comms for Londinium, a festival celebrating the Roman heritage of the City, which begins on 27 July and runs until the end of October. Flint was also in charge of PR for last year's spectacular London's Burning celebrations.
HOOK LDN has eyes for John Doe
New British eyewear brand HOOK LDN has appointed John Doe as its retained agency for creative collaborations, content creation and press office. HOOK LDN opened its first standalone store in Shoreditch at the start of May.
