E-commerce site Etsy appoints Alfred
Online selling site Etsy has appointed PR firm Alfred to handle its corporate communications in the UK, following a competitive pitch. As part of the brief, Alfred has been tasked with creating a campaign that builds awareness of Etsy’s business model and its commitment to creative entrepreneurs in the UK. Etsy, which was founded in the US in 2005, has an estimated 28.6 million buyers globally and recorded annual gross merchandise sales of $2.84bn (£2.3bn) in 2016.
Neat PR wins ChattyFeet
Specialist retail PR agency Neat has been appointed by 'quirky' sock brand ChattyFeet, and has been tasked with encouraging more people to "inject some fun" into their sock drawers. Neat MD Hilary Frohlich, who founded the agency in 2011, said: "ChattyFeet’s socks are fantastic quality, and with so many different designs we know we’ll have fun securing some great results." ChattyFeet characters include ‘David Sock-Knee’, ‘Prof. Brian Sox’, and ‘Kate Middle-Toe’.
Cirkle wins pet food brand Lily’s Kitchen
Cirkle has been appointed by ethical pet food brand Lily’s Kitchen to handle its corporate, trade and consumer PR. The agency has been tasked with raising the awareness and "fame" of the company’s food for dogs and cats. Cirkle MD Ruth Allchurch said the agency would create "culturally transformative and disruptive" campaigns that increased reappraisal around how consumers view pet food.
Raft of hires at Whitehouse Consultancy
PR firm Whitehouse Consultancy has hired Samantha Gibson as director. She joins from the Royal College, where she served as director of PR and media. Gibson has also held comms positions at pharmaceuticals business Eli Lilly, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire, and the NHS. Meanwhile, the agency has also added Finn O’Dwyer-Cunliffe as a consultant, and Chenoa Geerts as associate consultant in its policy specialist team.
Flymo brand owner brings in O PR
Comms agency O PR has been appointed by lawnmower and outdoor power product manufacturer Husqvarna UK. The agency has been tasked with handling the company’s integrated PR, digital and social media strategy across its Flymo and McCulloch brands in the UK. Husqvarna consumer brands trade marketing manager Gavin Burns said O would develop "a calendar of lifestyle content" that the company’s customers could relate to.
Ibiza hotel books EdenCancan
PR firm EdenCancan has been appointed to handle PR for Ibiza-based hotel Can Lluc. EdenCancan managing director Mischa Joslin said: "Our strategy will work to build awareness for the hotel as it firmly cements itself as a key player within the luxury Ibiza travel market." Earlier this month Joslin replaced agency founder Nick Fulford, who has become chairman.
Riva hired by hotels and resorts brand
Como Hotels and Resorts has hired Riva PR to represent its portfolio of hotels and resorts, following a competitive pitch. The agency will start work on 24 April and has been tasked with developing and promoting the company’s 13 holiday destinations.
