Watch: ActionAid's celebrity cast highlights sexual violence against young women

ActionAid, which supports women and children in poverty, has called in five British actresses to help share the stories from four survivors of sexual violence and exploitation in Zanzibar and Bangladesh.

The Safe From Harm film uses Gemma Chan, Andrea Riseborough, Jane Horrocks, Jaime Winstone and Laura Carmichael to voice the individuals' experience of sexual violence.

The second half of the film shows their hope after receiving support from the charity.

ActionAid's in-house PR team created the campaign to highlight how millions of young women from the world's poorest places are exposed to sexual violence and exploitation.

The organisation is also calling on members of the public to sponsor a girl to keep her safe from harm.

Gemma Chan, who is most famous for her role in Channel 4 sci-fi drama Humans, said: "ActionAid is transforming the lives of many girls who have suffered so much and I hope people will dig deep to protect and support these girls keeping them safe from harm."

The film was produced and directed by Dominik Danielewicz, co-director at Dario&Dom.
