Kaplow makes first acquisition: Creative shop Mayday

NEW YORK: Kaplow Communications has acquired creative agency Mayday in the first acquisition in its 25-year history.

The deal will expand Kaplow’s in-house digital and tech capabilities to make it "even more fully integrated," CEO and founder Liz Kaplow said in a statement. Mayday will bring technology, video, visual design, and user-experience design chops to Kaplow, which is also headquartered in New York City.

The two agencies have partnered on agency work in recent years. Founded in 2010, Mayday has a 12-person team and 165 clients, including Procter & Gamble and Marriott, according to its website. Mayday founder and CEO Wayne Congar and his team are planning to move into Kaplow's offices in Manhattan and Philadelphia, according to a statement.

The websites of both firms featured placeholder pages on Wednesday afternoon announcing the merger and encouraging visitors to check out their counterpart’s website.

"Together, we bring rich experience and diverse perspectives on how best to engage with media, consumers, and clients across all verticals, through all media," said the message on Mayday’s website.

Liz Kaplow said her firm made a name for itself in media relations and influencer relations, and it has gradually started to work more in social media and content creation.

"This is the next evolution of that idea," she said.
