Prescott will take up the role in December, having spent six years at Commucan, where he has devised campaigns for governments, corporates and charities. His job title is strategic comms consultant and digital strategist.

According to Prescott's company profile, he has also "pioneered" social media campaigning for a number of clients.

When asked by PRWeek about his specific job function within Corbyn's office, Prescott declined to comment.

However, in a blog post that appeared on his site during August, Prescott said: "I want to see a much sharper operation in Corbyn's office and an increased level of professionalism in being a leader inside and outside the Commons."
