NEW YORK: Travel and hospitality marketing firm MMGY Global has acquired travel PR agency Nancy J. Friedman PR.

The combination will double the size of MMGY’s team and its New York office. The resulting agency will be rebranded as NJF, an MMGY Global Company. The two agencies will integrate by the end of the year.

There will be no staffing changes, the firms said in a statement. NJF founder and CEO Nancy Friedman will take on a role as principal at MMGY, and MMGY head of PR Julie Freeman will assume the role of MD of PR, social, and experiential marketing at NJF.

"I wanted to offer a more integrated approach to my clients and MMGY approached me at an ideal time," said Friedman. "They want to tap into the NJF culture and talent, so together we anticipate growth."

Friedman founded NJFPR in 1987. Its account roster include tourism work for Savannah, Georgia, and Washington, D.C., as well as Canyon Ranch Resort and Gansevoort Hotel Group.

MMGY was created in 2011 when MMG merged with Ypartnership. The firm has offices in Kansas City; New York; Madrid; Washington, D.C.; and Orlando and Fort Myers, Florida.

"We believe the travel PR space is really changing a lot," said Freeman. "We not only have to have media relationships, we also need research, content development, social and event experience."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
