NEW YORK: Healthy snack maker Hippeas has appointed M&C Saatchi PR as its AOR to support the U.S. launch of Organic Chickpea Puffs.
The agency’s New York office will lead account work, supporting the snack’s debut in the U.S. and raising consumer awareness while emphasizing its "unique proposition and brand voice," according to the firm.
The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, according to its LinkedIn profile. The organic snack debuted early this summer. It can be found in Starbucks nationwide, with plans to expand to Whole Foods Markets and Amazon, according to a statement from the firm. In the U.K., WH Smith, Boots, Holland & Barrett, and Waitrose all carry the product, according to Food Navigator-USA.com.
"This is a call to the modern hippies," its website reads. "Let’s stand together: arms in the air, flowers in our hair and crumbs in our beards."
Work on the account began in July, when the product launched stateside, with a team of five staffers led by EVP Jen Dobrzelecki. Hippeas launched in the U.K. in June. It also works with Jones Knowles Ritchie on visual identity, packaging, and branding.
M&C Saatchi PR’s work for the brand includes media relations, influencer engagement, social media, events, strategic partnerships, and trade support, according to Dobrzelecki.
Hippeas has also partnered with Farm Africa, a nonprofit working to end hunger in rural eastern Africa, donating a portion of sales to chickpea farmers through the nonprofit for each pack sold.
Representatives from Hippeas could not be immediately reached for comment.
Revenue growth for M&C Saatchi PR and sister agency M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment was about 20% in the first half of the year. M&C Saatchi PR has launched in six markets in the past two years, and its revenue was up 54% in 2015 to nearly $11.2 million.
