DIARY: Dolly the sheep's PR woman to launch own 'life science' agency ..

The woman who led the PR effort to introduce Dolly the cloned sheep to the world is to launch her own 'life science'- focused PR agency.

Sue Charles, who founded De Facto, now part of HCC De Facto, in 1994, is to launch her own agency - Charles Associates - next month, alongside Katja Stout, formerly head of communications at Schroder Ventures Life Sciences.

Their firm is likely to be a little more high-brow than some of those operating at the fluff-and-balloons end of the agency spectrum; both founders boast first-class degrees in biochemistry from Oxford, while Charles also possesses an MBA.

The business hopes to offer corporate and financial services to the controversial life sciences sector in addition to product PR and media relations. The agency has already affiliated itself with STMP Marketing Solutions and One Events in an effort to cover all its bases on the PR front.

The agency claims it is already in negotiations with a number of potential clients, aided by the links its founder boasts in the trade.

Charles left HCC De Facto in 2000 after acting as CEO of the firm following the merger of HCC and De Facto.

That agency continues to specialise in the life science sphere that Charles Associates is targeting. Surely Charles hasn't succeeded in cloning a PR agency?
