Axon opens Switzerland base to serve pharma industry

Axon Communications, one of the UK's largest healthcare agencies, has opened its fifth global office, in Switzerland.

Switzerland is a key hub for the global pharmaceutical industry, and the Axon office in Zug is close to both Zurich and Basel.

The office will be led by Claire Olivia Williams, who joins the firm this month having previously worked in-house for brands including Novartis and AstraZeneca, and more recently as a consultant, operating in Switzerland.

Ralph Sutton, international managing partner at Axon, said: "Our goal is to strengthen our presence among Swiss-based companies, and we are confident Claire will help in creating and deepening meaningful connections with people who are important to the success of our business."

In addition to its London HQ, Axon also has offices in the US, Denmark and two in Canada. With 57 London staff, it was listed as the fourth biggest UK healthcare PR firm in the 2016 PRWeek Global Agency Business Report.

Clients include Arla Foods, Bayer, Novartis, Roche and Shire.

Axon was founded in 2002 and is owned by National Public Relations, which is in turn part of Canada's Res Publica Consulting Group. Res Publica also own's London's Madano, and Cohn & Wolfe Canada, which is affiliated to the WPP-owned global network Cohn & Wolfe.
