NEW YORK: Santa Monica, California-based firm Harmonica has expanded to New York, hiring Mark Ballard, previously of Channel V Media, to helm its operations here.
Ballard has taken on the role of the firm’s SVP and GM of New York. He is responsible for leading the office, managing account teams for New York clients, and bringing in new business. Ballard joined the firm at the end of last month, reporting to Harmonica CEO Katy Saeger.
"[Saeger and I] have a great history together and we have a lot of business values in common," Ballard said.
Harmonica also has a satellite office in London. Saeger said a location in New York will support the agency’s growing technology practice.
"We've been thinking about it a long time," Saeger said. "Close to half our business has been operated in New York-based companies over the years."
Ballard was most recently media director at Channel V Media, where he worked for five years. Previously, he held roles at the Rosen Group, Giles Communications, and MWWPR.
"We wanted to have the right person to manage the office for the clients we have in New York and have a tremendous amount of confidence in that person to build the office," Saeger said. "The window came to be this year with [Ballard]."
Saeger founded Saeger Media Group in 2007 and sold it to Swift Collective in 2013. She then left her role at Swift to found Harmonica a year later. The firm’s clients include technology, health, wellness, lifestyle, and fashion companies, including clothing company Life is Good, Iris VR, and programmatic advertising platform Xaxis.
