From a computer game moggy to a feline book critic: Brands mark #InternationalCatDay

International Cat Day is here - here's how some brands and organisations have used the occasion for some feline-based brandjacking.

The makers of Assassin’s Creed have re-imagined the popular computer game franchise with a fluffy new star:

Holiday company Thomas Cook reminded the public about the cat-hartic effect of meeting a moggy on your hols:

UK restaurant chain Zizzi clearly wants a slice of the action with this cute GIF:

While Fanta in South Africa has also bought into the theme:

Publisher Penguin Random House even got one clever kitty to offer his literary perspective:

F1 is among a number of sporting bodies to remind the public about the disruptive contribution cats have made to big events.

Meanwhile, unsurprisingly animal charities and campaign groups have used the occasion to highlight their own causes:

According to data from Brandwatch, #InternationalCatDay has had 45,000 mentions on Twitter today as the working day ended in the UK, with a peak at 3pm UK time. Nearly two thirds (62 per cent) came from female Twitter users.
