Tavistock hired for regeneration scheme

Hammerson and Standard Life, the developers of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration scheme, have hired PR agency Tavistock to provide comms support for the project, following a competitive pitch. The scheme, which includes the extension of the Brent Cross Shopping Centre in north London, is set to cost £4.5bn, provide around 7,500 new homes and create around 25,000 jobs. Tavistock’s brief is to provide advice and support for local and London-wide media relations, and assist with the community consultation.

Cambridge University Press hires Threepipe

Threepipe has been appointed by Cambridge University Press to publicise its new study revealing the wide discrepancies in how the media and fans discuss men and women in sport. The research ties in with the Rio Olympics (the opening ceremony is on 6 August) and will continue throughout the 2016 Olympics with an update released at the end of the month.

The BIG Partnership takes on chair

Scottish PR agency The BIG Partnership has appointed Malcolm McPherson as non-executive chair. The longstanding senior partner at Edinburgh-based law firm HBJ Gateley was formerly the chairman of Hibernian Football Club and has held a range of non-exec positions, with a particular focus on entrepreneurial firms and corporate affairs advice.

Sherlock wins Busbud.com

Anglo-Brazilian agency Sherlock Communications has been appointed by bus travel website and app Busbud.com as its retained content marketing and PR consultancy for Brazil, following a competitive process. Sherlock has been briefed with developing creative campaigns that will establish the brand as a significant player in Brazil.

Avios appoints Text100

Text100 has been hired by global travel rewards company Avios as its UK PR agency, after a competitive pitch. Text100 will be responsible for comms activity covering creative consumer and corporate PR, events and influencer relations. The team will report to Sarah Leaman, head of PR at Avios.

Mercieca appointed by FrieslandCampina UK

FrieslandCampina UK, the firm behind drinks brands Yazoo and Optiwell, has brought in Mercieca to manage PR across its health and nutrition portfolio, spanning consumer, trade and internal PR. A key focus for the agency will be to raise the company's voice in the ongoing sugar debate.
