Carling's HSE Cake deal renewed

Beer brand Carling has awarded HSE Cake a new retainer to provide strategy, activation, experiential PR and social media in the UK and globally. The companies have already worked together for several years. The beer's new partnership with the Premier League was facilitated by the agency. In addition to football work, HSE Cake will manage Carling’s relationship with Universal Music Group.

TVC hired by NOW: Pensions

TVC Group is making its first foray into TV advertising with NOW: Pensions. The auto-enrolment pension provider has engaged the agency to help Britons get to grips with pensions jargon, and the resulting ad with reality TV star Stacey Solomon will air from September.

MRM appointed by Target Group

The agency MRM has been appointed by financial services outsourcing and software provider Target Group to manage its corporate comms. MRM works with more than 50 major financial institutions across the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The agency had previously worked with Target in April when it developed a stakeholder comms strategy around the sale of the business to Indian giant Tech Mahindra.

New London MD for Brandman

Sian Parry has joined the London office of Australia headquartered business The Brandman Agency. She was previously at Neville McCarthy Associates where she led the consumer lifestyle division. Brandman planted its flag in the UK when it took over Beth Cooper PR at the start of the year, having previously operated as sister companies.

FTI hires Waller

FTI Consulting has hired David Waller, former FT journalist and most recently director of external relations for the Association of Financial Markets in Europe, as a senior MD in its financial services practice. Click for the full story.

Rooster lights Contura's PR fires

Rooster has been appointed on a PR and social media brief by Swedish brand Contura, a manufacturer of wood burning stoves. It is the first time Contura has taken on a PR agency since its 2008 UK launch. Messaging will focus on positioning Contura as a "premium yet affordable" product, Rooster said.

McFrank tunes into music brief

McFrank, the Glasgow branch of Frank PR, has been appointed by the SSE Scottish Music Awards, following a competitive pitch. The agency will provide strategic comms in the run-up to the event, this November, and the account adds to the roster of music events handled by McFrank, including the West End Festival Fiesta.

Brand retained by Ecobank

London-headquartered Brand Communications has signed a new three-year contract extension with pan-African bank Ecobank. The agency first started working with the institution in 2008, since when it has more than doubled its presence to 36 markets.

Chelgate hires Sebastian Hanley

London, Brussels and Bucharest agency Chelgate has recruited Sebastian Hanley from the Workers’ Educational Association. Hanley left the adult learning provider after nearly four years as its marketing and publicity manager and was previously a senior vice-president at FTI Consulting.
