Nasdaq adds tool in GlobeNewswire to meet influencer relations demand

As PR professionals across the world get to grips with how best to use influencers in their campaigns, global data and markets firm Nasdaq has today added a new influencer relationship tool to its GlobeNewswire product.

Users of press release distribution service GlobeNewswire will now be able to reach influencers as well as journalists.

Within the tool, target influencers can be ranked based on relevance, reach and resonance within specific areas of interest. The tool will also allow users to see what conversations are emerging and which issues are trending.

The firm said it was not able for legal reasons to confirm how many influencers had already been added to the database, but Mike Piispanen, head of public relations services at Nasdaq Corporate Solutions, said it had a team of researchers who would continuously add more.

Aside from the US and the UK, he said he expected particular interest in the new tool from clients in Canada, France, Germany and the Nordics.

The update comes six months after Nasdaq acquired Marketwired and began integrating it into GlobeNewswire.

Recently, Hill+Knowlton Strategies launched a social influencer management tool, and new international guidelines told brands and agencies to be clear when they were engaging influencers on a commercial or paid basis.
