The PRWeek 06.24.2016: On the ground in Cannes

PRWeek global editorial director Steve Barrett talks to Kwittken's Jason Schlossberg and MSLGroup's Guillaume Herbette in Cannes.

Jason Schlossberg, chief creative officer at Kwittken, talks about the rise of podcasting and mentions a few of his favorites (The PRWeek, This American Life, and Radio Lab, to name a few). He recalls his first experience at Cannes Lions and gives tips to others coming to the Festival of Creativity for the first time: "Be committed to really throwing yourself into the entire week and not worrying about being too tired."

Schlossberg also discusses how creativity is different for PR pros and why ad agencies tend to win more awards.

Guillaume Herbette, CEO of MSLGroup, discusses why PR agencies didn't win many Lions, saying, "It's something the industry needs to address." However, he also praises the awards going to agencies from different parts of the world. 

"It's exciting to see such creative campaigns coming from new regions, particularly South America, and Thailand was a big success yesterday," he says. "It's a big change not having those big agencies from the U.K. or the U.S. winning 90% of prizes."
