PRWeek UK 30 Under 30 2016: Stewart Russell, Twitter UK

Russell (24) is a crucial part of Twitter UK's comms team and last summer he effectively led the UK operation for a period.

Leading the sport PR efforts across Europe, helping launch Twitter Moments in the UK, and aiding the Twitter emoji rollout are just some achievements.

The best thing about my job is... the sheer diversity. Whether it’s Twitter, or Vine and Periscope, we’re part of every conversation that is happening in the world.

The biggest misconception about PR is... when people think our most powerful tool is a press release. Yes it’s important, but really it comes down to fostering key relationships (internally and externally) and ensuring our comms efforts support the wider strategy of the business.

I couldn’t live without...
 put simply, Arsenal FC.

In five years’ time I want to be...
both the tech and PR industries are evolving at such a rate that there’s every chance my next role doesn’t even exist yet. This is both exciting and daunting in equal measure.

Nominator says: "From the Drummond puddle to the general election, Stewart’s talent for spotting a story, turning it round, selling it in and securing coverage is far beyond his years."
