Wilko, a family-owned value retailer, has appointed Manchester-based Brazen as its retained PR and social media agency following a competitive pitch. The account will be led by board director Sasha Marks, who previously headed up the Asda account at Freuds.
Storm to launch PlanetHemp
Hempco Canada Superfoods, a global hemp retailer, has hired Storm Communications as the company’s first UK agency to launch its new range of hemp oil, seeds, superfoods, supergreens and snacks under its first consumer-facing brand, PlanetHemp. The main objective will be to raise awareness of the new brand and products as well as raising the profile of hemp overall.
PR man Jonathan Edwards passes away
Jonathan Edwards, formerly the head of PR at guerrilla marketing agency Cunning Stunts, and a director at WPP agencies Cohn & Wolfe and at Clarion Communications, passed away earlier this month. After working in PR he returned to rural Lancashire, where he died on 9 May, with a funeral earlier this week. Contact his friend Liz Barette for details of memorial drinks planned in London.

Aloe vera drinks brand Simplee Aloe has appointed Palm PR to support in growing its share of the UK juice category. Through a campaign across consumer, trade and business media, Palm PR will educate consumers on the benefits of consuming aloe vera juice.
Cultural Comms supports new festival
Holiday company Steppes Travel has hired Cultural Communications to support the launch of Beyond, its inaugural travel festival, featuring talks by adventure travel, exploration and conservation experts, such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Chris Packham. Beyond will be held at the Royal Geographical Society, London on 17 and 18 September.
