Burson-Marsteller adds Benenson Strategy Group to network

Cofounders Joel Benenson and COO Carl Rossow will continue to lead operations for the firm, which is conducting research and polling for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller has added research and consulting firm Benenson Strategy Group to its network.

Benenson Strategy Group was acquired by WPP-owned market research company Kantar in 2013. The shop’s cofounders, CEO Joel Benenson and COO Carl Rossow, will continue to run its operations; it has offices in New York, Washington D.C., Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and London. WPP is also the parent company of Burson-Marsteller.

Benenson is the lead strategist and pollster for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and it conducted research and polling for both of President Barack Obama’s campaigns. The firm’s client list includes AARP, the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Football League, Toyota, and Weight Watchers.

Burson-Marsteller also acquired Istanbul-based Effect PR last month. Other Burson subsidiaries include BWR, Direct Impact, Effect PR, North of Nine Communications, Palisades Media Ventures, Penn Schoen Berland, Prime Policy Group, and TSE Consulting.

A Benenson representative was not immediately available for comment.
